Question sent into HillaryforHealth:
I have not heard in debates or have seen in web site her plans to have chiropractic care included in her universal health care plan. As the largest group of providers that have a natural for of treatment, all Americans should be able to have a choice of physician. There is much research to prove cost effectiveness, high patient approval, and improved quality of life. Will she support any willing provider and insurance equality laws already in place in all the states in her program? As a wife of a chiropractor and the mother of a chirooopractor, it makes my blood boil to see everyone get paid a decent reimbursement for spinal manipulation but them. If a person has gone through all the education and has been given a license to practice, they should all be given the same pay for the same procedures, as long as it is in their scope of practice. We have helped many people that medicine was of no help. Yet, we are discriminated against by the federal government in Medicare, Medicaid, the insurance industry, and by state laws. There is not one good reason, in this day and age, for this inequity. As a nurse, I have seen the medical side. I strongly prefer chiropractic care/ or alternative medicine as a choice. Homeopaths and Naturopaths should be included in her plan as well as herbs and natural botanicals in place of drug therapy.
Answer:
I canNOT speak for Hillary but based on my reading of her plan: she would allow everyone access to the "same care that members of Congress have" which is the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP).
If you go to the FEHBP website you can enter in your zip code and select a few plans to compare.
I entered Muncie's zip 47302, selected Aetna, Blue Cross and something else.
so, Yes, Chiropractic care would be covered, depends on which plan you choose
As for honoring laws in each state, I am pretty sure the law would bind her plan to do that.
As for homeopathy, Naturopaths, herbs, botanicals, again, you'd have to check each individual plan. Ask the insurance companies.
